Perry County Arts League to hold 'Starving Artist Sale' Friday

— The Perry County Arts League will hold a "Starving Artist Sale" from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Perry County Historical Museum, 408 W. Main St. in Perryville. There is no admission charge.

Lunch and/or dinner will be available for $5 per person. The menu will include a varietyof beans, corn bread, desserts and a drink.

A variety of original art will be available for purchase as well as arts and crafts items. Perry County Arts League T-shirts will also be for sale.

The Perry County Arts League was organized in January with 17 founding members. Officers include Alma Gipson, president;H.L. Gray, vice president; Alene Otts, secretary; Mauretta Frantz, treasurer; and Cindy Wheeler, publicity chairwoman. The group meets at 7 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month at the museum. Additionally, several members are teaching art classes at the museum - Gipson teaches on Mondays and Phyllis Loftin on Thursdays.

"Oct. 10 is also tax day," Wheeler said. (Personal property taxes are due that day.)

"What better way to recuperate than taking a little time away just to browse, shop, visit and enjoy some good food with your local Perry County Arts League," she said.

Wheeler said the league hopes to make this "an annual event."
