Lunch 'n' learn to focus on sports for disabled

CONWAY - Conway Regional Therapy Services is presenting a series of free lunch 'n' learn programs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Thursday in October to foster awareness of recreational opportunities for people with disabilities.

The activities, which are centered on October as National Recreational Awareness Month, are designed to educate and encourage disabled people as well as educate therapists and others who work with disabled patients. The activities emphasize individuals who have excelled in recreational sports, including:

◊Today - Wheelchair racing and fitness weight-training instruction and demonstration by Road Racer Marty Johnson

◊Oct. 16 - Adapted hunting and fishing instruction anddemonstration by hunter and fisherman Tony LeQuieu,

◊Oct. 23- Swimming instruction and demonstration by Para-Olympics swimmer Grover Evans and physical therapist Holly Hardy

The program will conclude on Wednesday, Nov. 5, with Randy Snow, a wheelchair gold medalist and motivational speaker.

Lunch 'n' learns will be held at the Conway Regional Health and Fitness Center, 700 Salem Road. No registration is required. For more information, call Jackie Bracey at (501) 932-0814.
