Applications being accepted for pageant

JACKSONVILLE - Entries are being accepted for the Cityfest pageant that will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Jacksonville High School Auditorium. Entries must be received by Saturday, Sept. 13. A drop-in rehearsal will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday Sept. 19.

Pageant categories include competitions for girls ages 12 months to 18 years and boys ages 3 and younger. The entry fee for beauty/handsome is $35. The talent fee, for ages 2 to 18 years, is $25. The fee for the photogenic competition is $15, and a 5-by-7 or 8-by-10 photograph must be submitted with the application. All photos will be returned the day of the pageant. For families with more than one member entering, the second child can enter at half price.

Contestants will be judged on overall appearance, poise and personality. Girls should wear a pageant dress and boys should wear a suit. Check-in will be from 8-9 a.m. for the 10 a.m. pageant categories and from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for the 6 p.m. pageant categories. If participants pick up a number during the drop-in rehearsal, they do not have to check in the day of the pageant.

Prizes include trophies, sashes, tiaras, king's robes, septors and more. The overall talent winner for ages 9-18 will perform at the Wing Ding Festival. All proceeds from the pageant go to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Jacksonville.
