— TODAY Genealogy Society Meeting

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE - The Village Genealogical Society will hold its first meeting of the year at 2 p.m. in the Coronado Center. Marilyn Mertens will present a program on "Documentation and Citations." Mertens is a member of the genealogical society and a retired political science professor.

Book Club

MALVERN - The Adult Book Club will meet from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Malvern-Hot Spring County Library.

Learning Library Skills

BENTON - Children ages 7 to 12 are invited to become familiarized with the library and what it has to offer from 6-7 p.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library. Registration is required. Call (501) 778-4766 to sign up. The class will be held once a month during September, October and November.

FRIDAY Fish, Chicken Dinner

MALVERN - The St. Paul United Methodist Church of Malvern at East Mill and Cherrylane will have a fish and chicken dinner from 4-7 p.m. Prices, which include drink and dessert, are $9 for four pieces, $7.50 for two pieces and $4.50 for ages 12 and under. For carryout orders call (501) 337-7364. The East Mill entrance is where the carryout orders can be placed and picked up.

SATURDAY American Legion Meeting TR ASKWOOD - The American Legion/American Legion Auxiliary, Traskwood Unit and Post 263, will host the District 15 meeting. There will be a lunch at noon, followed by the meeting. Guest speakers will be American Legion Auxiliary Department President Rose Weise and Department Adjutant Dub Allen, who will talk about his experiences at Boys Nation. Roger Lacey will talk about the department oratorical contest, which is held each year. All Legionnaires, auxiliary members and guests are invited to attend this event.Employee Picnic

ARK ADELPHIA - Danfoss Scroll will hold its annual employee appreciation picnic with an estimated 650 employees and their families. This picnic will also commemorate the 75th year of operations for the Danfoss Global Group. Chamber members are needed to donate door prizes or special coupons to sponsor this event. MONDAY Head Start Open House

BENTON - The Central Arkansas Development Council Benton Head Start will have an open house at 6 p.m. Parents will visit their children's classroom and see some of the activities they will do throughout the school year. The CADC Benton Head Start is at 1600 Dixie St. CADC Benton Head Start will hold its monthly parents' meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11. Watercolor Class

BENTON - Instructor Carolyn Voss will teach a watercolor class at 6 p.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library.Participants will learn how to paint fish.

Bingo for Books

MALVERN - The Malvern-Hot Spring County Library will hold Bingo for Books from 1-1:30 p.m.

WEDNESDAY Clark County Fair

ARKADELPHIA - Entries for the Clark County fair parade are being accepted. Participants may enter a float or vehicle. The parade will begin at 5 p.m. The theme for this year's parade is "Honoring the Past and Celebrating the Future." For more information, call Blake Batson or Erin Lafont at (870) 246-9868.
