JUANITA THETUS BAILEY, 88, of Little Rock went to be with theLord on Tuesday, September 2, 2008.

Juanita was born June 28, 1920, to the late George Monroe Eskridge and Bernice Robbins Richie Eskridge. She was a loving mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; son, Jerry Don Bailey; daughter, Mary Ann Seay; and beloved dog, Shasta. She is survived by son, Scott Moser (Krista) of Mabelvale; daughter, Juanita Paige Anderson of Little Rock; grandson, Timothy Don Bailey (Danette) of Jacksonville; granddaughters, Lydia Blair Dreher (Jeremy) and Darcy Bailey all of Little Rock; and four great grandchildren.

ROBERTA SUMMERS BARNES of Little Rock passed away Sept. 2, 2008. She is survived by her daughter Betsy Barnes; three grandchildren, J Plunkett and his wife Donna, Maria Troeger and her husband Chris of Little Rock, and Jennifer Reeves of North Carolina; and two great-grandchildren, Diana Morgan Plunkett,and Conall Alexander Plunkett. Her husband of 50 years C.V. 'Cotton' Barnes and daughter Diana Marie Plunkett preceded her in death.

Roberta was born in La Junta, Colo., as the fourth child of Paul Albert and Grace Morgan Summers. She graduated from Dodge City High School and attended Washburn University, where she pledged Alpha Phi sorority. Before marrying she returned to La Junta, where she organized the first Girl Scout troop there.

In April 1940 she married Cotton Barnes in Oklahoma City, Okla. and she moved to Little Rock. She began a lifetime of volunteering and community service. In the 1940s she volunteered to the Fort Roots Veterans Hospital as a "gray lady" and was honored in 1945 with the American Red Cross Volunteer Special Services Award. She started the first volunteer group at Scott Nursing Home and volunteered at CARTI and Arkansas Children's Hospital. She served on the Florence Crittenden Home board and Ouachita Girl Scouts Council.

She was a member of PEO Chapter C for over 50 years. She was a long standing member of the 20th Century Club and helped to start Hope Lodge, Departmental Club, Arkansas Arts Center, Fine Arts Club, Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Society, FOCAL and the Old State House Assn. She and her husband were charter members of Riverdale County Club; now Pleasant Valley Country Club, and the Quapaw Quarter Assn.

Roberta joined St. Mark's Episcopal Church in 1955 and served on numerous committees to include President of Church Women Auxiliary, Chairman of the Annual Antique Show, Alter Guild, and the Columbarium, Trust, Diocesan, and Memorial Boards. She and Craig Chotard raised private funds and oversaw the design and installation of the stain glass windows in the sanctuary.

Roberta Barnes was a unique, elegant individual. Her strength, wisdom and empathy for others will continue to guide the many lives she touched.

Funeral services will be Friday Sept. 5, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends at a reception in St. Mark's following the service. LEONA MILDRED "MICKEY" BIRD of North Little Rock departed thislife Monday, Sept. 1, 2008. She was born in Three Rivers, Mich., on Aug. 5, 1918, and recently celebrated her 90th birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Ada Bell; one sister, Lucinda Swihart;and her husband of 47 years, Frank H. Bird. Mickey was a bookkeeper for many years at Gold's House of Fashion and Parkin Printing in Little Rock. In her later years, until the age 85, she worked for Care Link.

Mickey was Past President of NLR PTA Council and served on several Boards of Arkansas PTA. She was past Worthy Matron of Jewel Chapter and Florence Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was Past Grand Representative of the Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, having served as Banquet Ticket Sales Chairman for numerous years. Mickey was a Past Mother Advisor and Past Chairman of the Advisory Board of Jewel Rainbow Assembly and a member of the Grand Cross of Color.

Left to cherish her memories are her three daughters, Pat McKay of Jacksonville, Rosemary Burks and her husband William of Jacksonville and Jeannie Price and her husband John of North Little Rock. As well as five grandchildren, James McKay Jr., John McKay, Mimi McKay, Marianne Price and Jennifer Price.

The family would like to extend a special appreciation for the care and friendliness that Leona received from the staff at Woodland Hills Nursing Facility in Jacksonville. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

RICK ALLEN COMER, 54, of Little Rock, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2008. He was born on May 30, 1954, in Fort Mead, Md. He was in the banking business for 35 years, the past 12 years with Arvest Bank. Rick touched many lives with his big blue eyes, beautiful smile, fun-loving and giving personality.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby H. Comer. He is survived by his mother, Alice Comer Martin; and sister, Toni Comer both of Sherwood; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. He is also survived by his very best friend of 50 years, Ethel Cook of Little Rock, whom Rick loved very dearly. Rick will be sorely missed by his family and many, many friends. Missed but never forgotten.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at the Oakland Fraternal Cemetery in Little Rock, Ark. Arrangements are under the direction of the Northeast Arkansas Cremation Society of Hardy, Ark.

LORENE EMMONS, 104, of Little Rock, died Monday, September 1, 2008. ADOLPH FLOYD HEFFINGTON, age 84, of Maumelle, Arkansas died at Stonehaven Assisted Living September 2, 2008. He was a member of Baring Cross Baptist Church since September 14, 1938, where he was a long-time deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was preceded in death by parents Isaac and Mary Heffington.

He is survived by his wife, Daisy Mae Heffington; daughter, Phyllis Hillman of Maumelle; grandson, Michael Hillman (DoriAnn) of Rockwall, Texas; great-grandson, Jacob Hillman of Rockwall, Texas; and special nieces, Dean Richards (Raymond) of Little Rock, Linda Griebel (Jay) of Star City, Sandy Hardy (Wayne) of North Little Rock and many other close relatives and friends.

IRIS WORTHAM RICHARDSON, 92, of Jacksonville passed away Monday, September 1, 2008, at Woodland Hills Healthcare. She was born November 5, 1915, at Unionville, Tennessee, to the late Thomas and Pearl Wortham.

She was preceded in death by her husband, AldenRichardson, sister, Mayme Woosley. She is survived by one son, James W. Richardson and his wife, Janet Howell Richardson of Cabot, and cousinsin Tennessee and many hundreds of friends from everywhere.

She worked at many military base exchanges, and retired from LRAFB Exchange in 1976. She volunteered at Rebsamen Hospital for many years.

RUBY FOWLER WOODALL of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord on September 2, 2008. Ruby was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.C. Fowler of Friendship, Ark. Before her marriage to Noah Harold Woodallin Malvern, Ark, she taught school for two years in Clark County.

After the birth of their three children, they relocated to California. In 1945 they opened their first camera store in Tujunga, Calif. In 1952 their secondstore was opened in Glendale, Calif. In 1955 they opened their third store in Montrose, Calif. The family all worked together.

Ruby moved back to Arkansas in 1991 to a Retirement Home. Ruby was an active member of Lifeway Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, daughters Jeanine Rickman and baby Mary Linda Woodall, sons Dalton Harold Woodall and Lynn Fowler Woodall.

She is survived by daughters-inlaw Doris Woodall and Sharon Bueg; granddaughters Lindsay Harp, Janet Howard and Janice Huey. She is also survived by grandsons Alan Rickman, Brian Rickman, David Woodall, Howard Woodall, Neil Woodall and Tom Woodall. She is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

AUSTIN - Purnie Mae Weeks, age 80, of Austin, Arkansas, was born March 27, 1928, at Cushman, Arkansas, to Edgar and Nettie Weatherford and died August 31, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Purnie is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Weeks; a son, Larry Elvis Weeks and wife Lilia of Baltimore, Maryland; two daughters, Patricia Maples and husband Glendale of Ward, and Mirroette Parrish and husband Robert H. Parrish II, of Bankston, Alabama.

BENTON - Carl Gene Johnson, age 82, of Benton, Arkansas died September 2, 2008 at his home. He was born on July 19, 1926 in Houston, Arkansas to his parents Admiral Dewey and Addie Adeline Hill Johnson. Carl was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in WWII. In addition, he loved deer hunting, fishing, and gardening and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife Imogene Johnson of 59 years; one daughter, Linda Croney (Matt) of Benton, Ark., and one son, Barry Johnson of Alexander, Ark.; two brothers, Frank Johnson of Jacksonville, Ark. and Allen Johnson of Conway, Ark.; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Jared, and Clay Johnson, and James and Brad Allen; seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Alva Dean, Charles Edward, and Troy Johnson, and one sister Geneva Johnson.

BENTON - Mr. Bob Eugene Reynolds, age 82, of Benton died Tuesday,September 2, 2008. He was born September 20, 1925 in Roseboro, Arkansas to the late Richard and Bessie Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds was retired from Reynolds Metals as a welder after 34 1/2 years and a WWII Navy Veteran wherehe served aboard the USS Baltimore in the South Pacific. Mr. Reynolds was also an avid fisherman and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors, wife, Armetha Mae Buffington Reynolds, Benton; son, Robert Reynolds, Atlanta, Texas; daughter, Belinda Elwick, Atlanta, Texas; brother, Fred Norwood, Benton; sisters, Sybil Styles, Malvern and JoAnn Hickerson, Pine Bluff; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

CONWAY - Carolyn Fay (Daves) Robertson, 67, of Conway passedaway on September 3, 2008 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Conway, Ark. on July 1, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Velton B. Daves Sr. and Emma Ray (Graddy) Daves. Carolyn was a loving mother andgrandmother and an avid sports fan, especially when her husband, kids or grandchildren were playing ball. She loved to look at fall foliage with her father and take her grandchildren to the Daffodil Festival on Wye Mountain. Carolyn retired from the Conway School System, but had a varied life. She and her husband Jarrel owned and operated Prince Street Grocery for 17 years, she worked at International Shoe Company, Hammett Cleaners, Prince Gardner and as a nurse's aide. Carolyn was a member of Pickles Gap Baptist Church. A sister Emma Jean (Daves) Kuykendall also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Jarrel "J.R." Robertson; three sons: Mickey and wife Becky of Honeygrove, Texas, Rick of Little Rock, Ark. and Nickey and wife Brandi of Conway; six grandchildren: Caleb Robertson, Matthew Robertson, Atalanta Robertson, Espn Robertson, Ethan Howard and Ryann Barry; a sister, Janell Starkey; a brother Velton Daves Jr. and many friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice Home Care, especially her nurse Tammy, the staff and personnel at Conway Regional Medical Center, CARTI and Salem Place Nursing Home .

DENNARD - Meta Margaret Parker, 84, of Dennard passed away Saturday, August 30, 2008 in Harrison, Ark. Born January 24, 1924 in Pottenstien, Germany, to the late George and Apolonia Fiedler, she was a homemaker who enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, and watching wildlife. She also worked at the Blue Bonnet Restaurant where she had the privilege of serving the Clinton Family, during their stay in theGovernor's Mansion. She was best known for her never-ending capacity for love.

She is survived by two sons; Rodney Parker (Shana) of Harrison, and Aubrey Parker of Dennard, four grandchildren; Silas, Eric, David and Rodney Parker, a stepson, Bobbie Parker, and a sister-in-law, Ann Waits. She is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years; Carrell V. Parker, and a daughter; Charlene Parker.

DES ARC - Beverly Sue Van-Houten, age 60, of Des Arc, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 2, 2008. She was born on March 28, 1948 to the late E.A. and Ruby (Dodson) VanHouten. Beverly is survived by one brother, James K. VanHouten and wife, Anita of Des Arc; two sisters, LaVerne Pack of Stillwell, Okla., and Barbie Brown and husband, Danny of Humphrey. Beverly loved her nieces and nephew, Jamie, Kelli, and Tyler VanHouten and Scarlett and Lexi Brown, a very close and dear cousin, Helen Hunt of Des Arc, who provided hours of care and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was a member and Sunday school secretary at Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and her church family was there with her until the end.

HOT SPRINGS - Major General (Ret.) Jimmie Red Jones was born March 14, 1920, in Magnolia, Arkansas. He died September 1, 2008, at his home in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Hewas the son of the late Stephen Herbert Jones and Ethel May Stevens Jones. He was raised in the home of his Grandfather, Judge J.Y. Stevens, Magnolia, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his brother Marion C. "Buddy" Jonesof Magnolia, Arkansas. He graduated from Magnolia High School, Southern State University (SAU), and Keegan's School of Radio and Television in Memphis. He attended Arkansas Law School. He received the Southern Arkansas University Distinguished Alumni award in 1988. He was well known for playing football in high school and college, captain of football teams in both high school and college. He played quarterback and linebacker. His famous co-player was Charlie McClendon, long-time head coach of Louisiana State University (LSU). Jimmie Red introduced many times as a 150 lb. dynamic football player, but if he had weighed 200 lbs., he would have been outlawed from the field. Awarded the trophy as "Best All Around Athlete" in High School, he lettered four years in high school football and basketball.

He began his working career as a newspaper boy, clerk in stores, filing station attendant, roughneck and switcher in the oil fields. He joined the Arkansas Army National Guard in 1938 and entered active service in October 1942 as an aviation cadet. Trained as a bombardier, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps in December 1943 and flew 30 combat missions as the lead Bombardier with the 93rd Bomb Group headquartered 8th Air Force at Ipswich, England. He was promoted to first lieutenant in August 1944 and in August 1945 was released from active service and assigned to the Officers Reserve Corps. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster (which he dearly cherished); Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters; Joint Service Medal; European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five Bronze Stars and World War II Victory Medalalong with many others.

He returned to Magnolia after the war and was announcer and commercial manager of radio stations at Camden and Magnolia. In 1950, he was elected three terms and served only two terms as County Tax Collector. During this time, he organized the Veterans Foreign Wars (VFW) and Magnolia Chamber of Commerce. He served as President of the Southern State College Alumni Association, and Magnolia Junior Chamber of Commerce, and Arkansas Junior Chamber of Commerce. Serving as their first President, he was National Director, Arkansas Junior Chamber of Commerce and Commander of Magnolia Post, VFW. In 1955, he was appointed by Governor Francis Cherry as State Land Commissioner and was named Magnolia Man of the Year.

In 1956, he was elected Auditor of State and served twelve terms. During this time he was Chairman, Arkansas State Employees Retirement System. He was elected in 1971 as President of the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers. Magnolia again honored Jimmie Red with a "Jimmie Red Jones" day and established a $10,000 scholarship at South Arkansas University (SAU) in his name. Jimmie Red was well known in Magnolia, receiving 97 percent of their vote when first elected Auditor of State.

Major General (Ret.) Jones served as Adjutant General of the Arkansas National Guard February 1, 1979 to June 14, 1981 and from January 11, 1983 to February 10, 1984. Jones had rejoined the Guard in 1947 and was assigned to the 206th Tank Battalion where he served as platoon and company commander. Following promotion to captain in 1951 his assignments included Adjutant, Communications and Motor officer of the 206 Tank Battalion. In 1961, he was transferred to Headquarters, Arkansas Army National Guard and promoted to Major with assignments as Assistant GI and later Field Division Advisor in the Selective Service Section. Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in 1967, he served as State Inspector General, Director of Supply and Maintenance and Operations and Training Staff Officer. Jones was promoted to Colonel in 1971. After his tenure with the Guard, he was transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve Control until his appointment and promotion to the Adjutant General, retiring as Major General. General Jones holds the Legion of Merit and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal.

General Jones maintained an active interest in politics throughout his career. He was the state campaign manager for Bill Clinton when he was reelected in 1982. He has served the Democratic Party as a key fundraiser for President Bill Clinton.

Life member of the First Methodist Church, Magnolia; member of Columbia Lodge No. 82; Free and Accepted Masons, Magnolia; 32nd Degree Mason, Arkansas Consistory; member of the Shrine Scimitar Temple and Jesters; American Legion (Past State Department Commander); Elks Clubs and member of 40 and 8.

All during his life he worked for many civic organizations and projects (Cancer, TB, Heart, United Ways, and others). He organized and served as chairman of the parade Commission celebration when the city became 100 years old at the time it was the longest parade in Arkansas history (4.5 hours) which may still stand.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Ledbetter Jones Colonel (Ret.), stepsons, Bobby Dale Gentry of Pine Bluff, Barry Gentry of Redfield and Chan Holcombe of Fort Smith. Grand-stepchildren, Jessie Marie Gentry and Brenna Dale Gentry of Pine Bluff, Bobby Lewis Gentry II and Shelby Grace Gentry of Redfield, Jimmie Holcombe of Arcada, California and Charity McCartney of Fayetteville, a nephew, Dr. Steve Jones and his wife Clara of El Dorado, a niece, Marian "Susie" Howard and her husband Rory of Pilot Point, Texas.

Honorary pallbearers are: Dr. Kyle Roper of Hot Springs, Andy Anderson of El Paso, Arkansas, Jimmy Mode of Greenbrier, the members of Virginia Clinton Birthday Club, and Hospice Home Care of Hot Springs.

Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, Magnolia in support of the Caring Place Alzheimer's Program, or to the Jimmie Red Jones Scholarship fund at Southern Arkansas University.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Bernard M. Beard died peacefully in his sleep onSeptember 2, 2008, at the age of 88. He was born April 15, 1920, and reared on a farm in Lonoke County, Ark., the youngest of six children. He attended Oklahoma A&M College, graduating with Bachelor's and Master's Degrees inAgronomy. He served as a Navigator in the Air Force during WW II, flying combat missions in the Balkans. He married Willedra Mershon in 1951 and they shared 57 years together, enjoying three children and five grandchildren. Bernard retired from the Insurance industry after 51 years of service with The Equitable Life Assurance Society. During his career he attained professional designations as a Certified Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, and Certified Pension Consultant. He combined hard work with honesty and knowledge, serving both his clients and his profession with integrity. Bernard was a farmer at heart and spent many hours in his yard and gardens. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City.

He is survived by his wife, Willedra, and their three children, Mike Beard, Janet Beard, and Virginia and Doug Lawrence, all of Oklahoma City; his grandchildren, Katie Lawrence and Kristen and Doug Conyers, of San Antonio, William Watson of Oklahoma City, Lauren Beard, of Springfield, Mo., and Taylor Beard of Norman; and his extended family in Arkansas, including brothers Hays Beard and Owen Beard and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Walter K. Beard, his brothers, Kermit Beard and Alton Beard, and his sister Joyce Lowe.

Mrs. Simmonspassed away Monday, September 1, 2008. She was born May 27, 1929, in Shreveport, La., to Travis and Mabel Bogue. She married Charles J. "Jimmy" Simmons on August 19, 1950. Marjorie graduated from Greenwood High in Greenwood, La., and Centenary College in Shreveport. She taught elementary school as well as instructed pupils in piano. Her primary focus was raising her four sons and homemaking. Marjorie was a loving mother and wife. The joys in her life included her family, church, music and friends.

Marjorie held a special place in everyone's heart. Her sons knew her as Mom, her grandkids knew her as MawMaw, and the rest of the family would call her Sister or Aunt Sister. Marjorie and Jimmy made homes in several places prior to their retirement in Longview including Shreveport and Lafayette, La., Beaumont, Texas, and Benton, Ark.

Marjorie was an avid non-fiction reader. The topics she most enjoyed were history and biographies. She had a very extensive vocabulary refined from a life long dedication of learning and teaching. She loved playing the piano and began her musical education in early childhood. She especially loved playing family favorites from "old time" gospel to classical and jazz.

Mrs. Simmons is survived by her mother, Mabel Campbell Bogue of Longview; her husband of 58 years, Jimmy Simmons of Longview; four sons and daughters-in-law, Jim Simmons and Sherry of Richardson, Bart Simmons and Martye of Dallas, Blake Simmons and Carolyn of Katy, and Eric Simmons and Gizell of Lafayette, La.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Travis Bogue Jr. and Margaret of Teague, Andy Bogue and Betty of Hallsville; a sister, LuBeth Dupree of Longview; her 10 loving grandchildren, Jeff and wife Aimee, Jeremy and wife LeighAnne, Grant and wife Kimberly, Trent, Nicole, Hunter and wife, Jamie, Doug, Andrew, Hannah, and Megan Simmons; four great-grandchildren, a large number of nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

McKINNEY, Texas - Ray Winston Dickey, 86, passed away Tuesday,September 2, 2008, in McKinney, Texas. He was surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 20, 1922, in Belleville, Arkansas, to the late A.A. and Clyde Moudy Dickey. He was a member of the Cedar Creek Church of Christ, where he was baptized as a young man.

He was one of the first students to graduate from Belleville High School in 1940. While attending Belleville High School he was a member of the High School Quartet, along with his brother Raymond Dickey, Doyle and Earl Barrick, where they won 1st Place in the State Quartet Competition.

He enlisted in the Navy on January 13th, 1943, where he served in the construction battalion in WWII.

He married Evelyn Bernice Link on November 4th, 1945, and started a family. They moved to Lubbock, Texas, in 1948. He and his family joined the Quaker Avenue Church of Christ of Lubbock. He was the coowner of Dickey-Frazier Mill Works on Erskine Avenue until it was destroyed by a tornado in 1988. They rebuilt as Dickey-Frazier Lumber and began building and remodeling homes.

He returned to Belleville, Ark., in 1995. He attended the Piney Forks Church of Christ with his brother, Raymond Dickey. He spent his time fishing and visiting at the corner cafe with his friends and family. He remained in Bellville until 2007 when he moved to McKinney, Texas, to live with his son.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 46 years, Evelyn Bernice Link Dickey; four brothers, Raymond, Randall, Ralph, andRudolph Dickey; a sister, Letannah (Dickey) Link Bishop; a son-in-law, Sammy Beevers; six nephews, Lance Cunningham, John Gregory Link, Kenneth Dickey, Dennis Dickey, Sherman Link and James "Butch" Watts; two nieces, Tami Link and Jonna Link; and a special granddaughter, Amy Michelle Rae.

He is survived by his five children: Charles Ray Dickey and his wife Joy of Austin, Texas, Shirley Ann Carr and her husband Steve of College Station, Texas, James A. Dickey and his wife Jana of McKinney, Texas, Judy Louise Dickey of Lubbock, Texas, and Rebecca Lynn Beevers of Lubbock, Texas; 15 grandchildren, Cheryl Gilmore, Stephanie Fine, Jennifer Wojcik, Bradley Gose, Joseph Carr, James (Jimbo) Dickey, Amanda Moutous, Clinton Calmes, Laura Brandenburg, Phillip Hollabaugh, Ashley McPherson, Amber Hollabaugh, Shauna Hollabaugh, Aaron Beevers and Charlie Beevers; 34 greatgrandchildren; one brother Richard Dickey of Belleville, Ark.; three sisters, Lamoine Bishop of Yorba Linda, Calif., Lavada Gordom of Torrance, Calif., and Lydia Franklin of Russellville, Ark.

Pallbearers will be Mark Gilmore, Brad Gose, Phillip Hollabaugh, Aaron Beevers and Charlie Beevers. Honorary Pallbearers Clinton Calmes, Joseph Carr and Mike McPherson.

Funeral services and burial will be Saturday, September 6, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 5th, at the Funeral Home.

SPRING, Texas - Dorothy "Dot" McCoy Hill, danced her way intoour hearts with her love of life, people and her Lord. She was born June 20, 1947, in Tupelo, Mississippi, to John Teague and Clara Irene McCoy. Dot was raised in Hughes, Arkansas, and graduatedfrom the University of Mississippi where she was head majorette and feature twirler. She was pursuing a career in dance when she met and married music minister, Dick Hill. Dick and Dot were married for 37 years during which time they served faithfully together in great churches in Texas, Alabama, Tennessee and Louisiana. Dot choreographed all the productions presented by the music ministries in the churches where they served. She also was a personal representative for Premier Designs, Inc., the company she loved so much.

Out of all her accomplishments, her greatest joy was found in the godly lives that her daughters, Ashley and Alison live. She was so proud of them and loved them beyond measure. They are today reflections and reminders of all that she chose to be. She adored their husbands and children. Dot suffered eight years of decline in her body from the effects of her illness but her spirit never suffered. She was bold and had great faith in her Lord to help her not just survive but thrive. She touched us all.

She is preceded in death by her father, John Teague McCoy and her father-in-law and mother-inlaw, Charles and Judy Hill. Dot is survived by her husband, Dick Hill, daughter, Ashley Smith, husband, Clint and children, Chandler, Shelby and Anna Grace, daughter, Alison Shepherd, husband, Matthew and children, Eli and Mary Kate. She is also survived by her mother, Irene McCoy, sister, B.J. Saunders and husband, Rick, and brother, John McCoy. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Jone Franco, husband, Rueben and sons, Bucky and Robert Garrett.

Visitation for out of town guests will be from 1-2 p.m., Thursday at Champion Forest Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m.
