Brandon Allen appears ready to help Fayetteville defend its state championship.
Allen, a sophomore, threw for 298 yards in a 35-0 victory over Little Rock Central on Friday night to become The Associated Press Arkansas High School Player of the Week.
Fayetteville won the Class 7A title last year behind quarterback Blake McDonald, who was a senior. Stepping in now is Allen, son of Arkansas Razorbacks assistant coach Bobby Allen.
Brandon Allen was nearly perfect in the first half, going 13-of-15 for 285 yards and five touchdowns. And against Central, which consistently fields one of the state's best defenses.
Fayetteville moved from No. 2 to No. 1 in the AP poll after the win.
