ASU-Searcy offers retirement workshop

SEARCY Arkansas State University-Searcy, a technical campus of ASU-Beebe, is hosting a six-hour workshop called Retirement Planning Today at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Tuesday, Oct. 7.
The continuing education department is hosting the workshops, which will be held on the Searcy campus, 1800 E. Moore Ave.
Taught by certified financial planner Ryan Boyd, the workshop will cover necessary information in making prudent financial decisions in today's economy. A University of Arkansas graduate, Boydregularly teaches retirement-planning classes for Christian Brothers University and other local universities and is an approved conference presenter for the United States Postal Service Southern Region Annual Conference.
This course blends financial education with life planning to help build wealth, align money with values and comfort of living and also achieve retirement lifestyle goals. Through the course, students should be able to create a retirement plan to fit their individual needs.
Topics will include: five strategiesto manage investment risks, 11 ways to save money on income taxes, important questions to ask before buying insurance coverage, how to invest in and take money out of the company's retirement plan and determine the savings needed to retire today or in the future.
The cost of this course is $49 and includes a 226-page illustrated textbook. Couples may attend together for a single registration fee. Because class size is limited, students must preregister for this course by contacting Twany Oakes at toakes@searcy.asub.edu or at (501) 207-4049.
