MENA The National Weather Service says it has restored its radio transmitter in Mena.
The radio signal was knocked out by last Thursday's tornado that tore through the center of the city. The tornado toppled a radio tower at the Polk County Courthouse, which brought about the outage.
National Weather Service meteorologist John Robinson says it now has radio equipment in another section of Mena. Equipment on a mountain outside of town escaped damage. Robinson says electronics personnel drove to a number of places in Polk County to make sure the signal could be tuned in clearly.
