Craft school accepting faculty applications

— The Arkansas Craft School in Mountain View is seeking 15 teachers of craft to be juried as lead faculty for 2009-10.

Lead faculty members will form the core teaching resource of the school and will be selected on an annual basis.

The lead faculty will represent the five basis media: metal, fiber, clay/ceramics, wood and glass; along with 2-D media: photography, paper and canvas.

Each lead faculty member will teach at least one course per program year as described by the Program and Curriculum Committee of the school.

The first jury date is Friday, May 15, for the remainder of 2009 and the spring of 2010. Jury for 2010-11 will be Thursday, Oct. 15.

The three-member Faculty Jury Committee will include at least two teachers of art in higher education.

Typically, the lead faculty will be chosen from craft artists in Arkansas and the Ozarkregion, including the Missouri Ozark area.

The Craft School will also employ additional teaching faculty as visiting faculty.

These instructors will be chosen for their outstanding expertise in their craft and educational experience.

They may be nationally and internationally known instructors or they may be outstanding local artists.
