Hundreds of trees were blown down during thunderstorms in central Arkansas, with some landing on homes and other structures.

The National Weather Service said Thursday it surveyed areas hardest hit by a storm system that moved through the day before.

The weather service says it looked at areas of White, Cleburne, Lonoke and Prairie counties. No tornado damage was found, but meteorologists said many spots had seen winds of 60 mph or more. Winds in Carlisle reached 70 mph, they estimated.

About 25,000 homes and businesses were without power for a time after Wednesday's storms.
