Twins' Mauer continues to amaze Gardenhire

— After missing April with a hip/back injury then hitting .414 in May, Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer entered the weekend hitting .465 in August.

He had raised his batting average 25 points in 17 games, climbing to a majors best .378. His batting average had been .383 before he went 1 for 7 Wednesday and Thursday.

"It's fascinating to watch," Twins Manager Ron Gardenhire said.
