Weekend crashes kill 4 Arkansans

— Four people were killed in motor vehicle accidents on Saturday and Sunday in Stone, Randolph, Madison and Conway counties, the Arkansas State Police reported.

In Stone County, John Walden, 60, of Vilonia was killed in a motorcycle accident on Arkansas 5, south of Mountain View, according to a state police report.

Walden was headed north on the highway at 11:49 a.m. Saturday when he went off the road and struck a sign, the report says.

A passenger, Alice Walden, 51, of Vilonia was taken to Stone County Medical Center in Mountain View. Information about her condition was unavailable Sunday.

In Randolph County, Andrea Karr, 29, of Pocahontas was killed in an accident on a county road near Pocahontas, according to a state police report.

Karr was in a Pontiac Grand Am that was headed west at 6:52 p.m. Saturday when it crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound Chevrolet pickup, the report says.

Karr was taken to Five Rivers Medical Center in Pocahontas, where she was pronounced dead. The Grand Am's driver, Zachary Taylor, 18, of Pocahontas, was taken to St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, where he was in stable condition. The pickup's driver, Ronald Wicker, 36, of Imboden, was taken to Five Rivers Medical Center. Information about the conditions of Taylor and Wicker was unavailable Sunday.

In Madison County, Steven Treat, 57, of Huntsville died after he struck a deer while riding a motorcycle on Arkansas 127 near Alabam, according to a state police report.

Treat was headed north on the highway at 8:04 p.m. Saturday when he struck the deer, the report says. He was taken to Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, where he was pronounced dead at 9:57 p.m.

A passenger, Athena Treat, 54, of Huntsville, was treated at the hospital and released.

In Conway County, Jovani Barajas, 18, of Morrilton was killed in an accident on Interstate 40, west of Menifee, according to a state police report.

Barajas was in a westbound vehicle that went into the median at 4:57 a.m. Sunday, the report says. The driver, Osmar Garcia, 19, of Morrilton, overcorrected, and the vehicle rolled over, the report says. Information about Garcia's injuries, if any, was unavailable Sunday.
