Driving class from AARP set for LR

— The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences will host an AARP-sponsored defensive-driving class Sept. 12 at its Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging in Little Rock.

The class costs $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers. The classes are the second Saturday of each month from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the ground floor of the Reynolds Institute, Room G190.

Drivers 55 years old and older will qualify for a discount on their insurance premium after completing the course. Participants will learn defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road, how to deal with aggressive drivers, how to handle problem situations, and how to safely use antilock brakes, air bags and safetybelts.

The Institute is at 629 Jack Stephens Drive in Little Rock.
