Man's ex-wife, daughter held after his girlfriend shot, hurt

— Police arrested a mother and daughter Wednesday in the shooting of a woman after a family quarrel.

Police said Nakina Forte, 30, pulled a gun on her father's girlfriend and shot the woman, who survived, after Forte's mother and the woman got into an argument about midnight Tuesday at the home of Nakina Forte's father.

Nakina and Gwendolyn Forte, 62, were arrested in Texarkana, Texas, early Wednesday morning on a first-degree battery charge.

Officer Kristi Mitchell, a spokesman for Texarkana, Ark., police, said both took responsibility for the shooting, but investigators believe the daughter pulled the trigger.

The injured woman, ChristinaWhite, was treated at a hospital for a wound in her shoulder and was released, police said. Her age was unknown.

Bobby Forte, 60, called 911 when his ex-wife and daughter showed up at his house, and he told his girlfriend not to open the door, police said. He was on the phone when two shots were fired, police said.

Bobby Forte took his girlfriend to the hospital to be treated for a bullet wound in her shoulder, and his ex-wife and daughter drove off, police said.
