Singer-guitarist, Boondogs play

— Singer-songwriter-guitarist Chris Maxwell will make a rare visit to his home state this weekend and will perform at 8 p.m. Friday at the Satellite Coffee Co., Kavanaugh Boulevard and University Avenue, Little Rock.

The Boondogs will also perform. Admission is $5. Call (501) 663-6336.

Maxwell led Jubilee Dive and then The Gunbunnies in the late 1980s and early 1990s as that band became the first Little Rock band to score a major-label deal. The album, Paw Paw Patch, was released by Virgin Records in 1990, but the band broke up soon thereafter. Maxwell later joined an industrial rock group, Skeleton Key, after he moved to New York. More recently, he has worked with former Brave Combo member Phil "Bubba" Hernandez in a duo, Elegant Too.

Maxwell recently discovered unreleased songs of The Gunbunnies and has created vinyl LPs of the material, set to be released at his show this weekend.
