— A spokesman for

Five Guys Burgers and Fries

confirms a branch of the chain, based in the northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, is set to open in North Little Rock's Lakewood Village by "end of fall" - more specifically a target date of late November, but subject to change, as usual, based on circumstances. If the name sounds familiar, it may be because President Barack Obama dropped into one of the Washington outlets while NBC News anchorman Brian Williams was shadowing him for a "day in the life of a president" feature earlier this year. We'll keep you posted.

Speaking of Lakewood Village, target date to open the North Little Rock branch of

Panera Bread

there is Oct. 12. We'll keep you posted on that one, too.

Monday is opening day for the Nashville, Tenn.-based

Logan's Roadhouse

chain's first central Arkansas outlet, at 410 Elsinger Blvd., off Oak Street in downtown Conway. You'll be able to get steaks, burgers, chicken, baby-back ribs, seafood, made-from-scratch yeast rolls and "bottomless buckets of in-shell peanuts" (you throw the shells on the floor) right away. But you'll have to wait awhile for the much-touted-on-the-Web-site "ice-cold longnecks" (or any other alcoholic beverages) because the restaurant doesn't yet have the private-club license required to sell them in dry Faulkner County. Hours are 11a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday. The telephone number is (501) 327-8670; information on the chain is available at the Web site, logansroadhouse.com. The chain also has locations in Fayetteville (3611 N. Shiloh Drive) and Fort Smith (6201 Rogers Ave.).

Chick-fil-A

The outlet in the Park Plaza food court, 6000 W. Markham St., Little Rock, will mark the start of the 2009 football season by offering a free chicken sandwich to customers wearing "sports-related apparel" - which includes any visible article of clothing that contains any sports team logo - from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Labor Day, Sept. 7. The promotion is also linked to the Sept. 5 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, in which No. 5 Alabama will take on No. 7 Virginia Tech in Atlanta.

And in the nostra culpa department, it is against state law for a private club in a dry county to have the word "bar" in its name, so the new sports dining and beverage establishment opening in Benton next month doesn't. The actual name of the place at 17332 Interstate 30 North is

Touchdown Sally's Sports Grill

. The target opening date is still Sept. 10.
