Slain boy's mother pleads innocent

— A woman charged with first-degree murder in the Aug. 17 death of her 6-year-old son pleaded innocent Friday.

Shequena Williams, 26, of Conway entered the plea in the death of Javari Washington, who authorities said died of bluntforce head trauma.

Judge David Reynolds, ruling in Faulkner County Circuit Court, set bail at the $500,000 amount requested by Prosecuting Attorney Marcus Vaden during a video arraignment.

The judge also ordered Williams to have no contact with her other two children, who were placed in the custody of the Arkansas Department of Human Services after her son's death.

Conway attorney Danny Rasmussen was appointed to represent Williams as a public defender.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Oct. 22.
