Timeless decor helps room grow with girl

— The Townsends are a young family who live in a Mediterranean-inspired home. Two children, three dogs and an occupied guest room translate into lots of household activity. There is one room on the top floor that is decidedly a departure.

The Townsends don't know it yet, but there is a window of time when you can get away with little girl decor.

But since Addison is 2, her favorite color is blue, and she has started her first few days at daycare, she's all about pretty these days. And she gets to jump onthe beds!

Addison doesn't know it yet, but this is the room she will grow up with, with twin trundles dressed in fabrics from Pixie Dust Decor, a Web retailer. Her mother, Lauren Townsend, keeps the too-cute toned down with soft cream colors on the wall and Beatrix Potter appearing only in the vintage book collection.

"I think it's a great transition from nursery to toddler and will be great for sleepovers later," Townsend said. "The fabrics can grow up with her because the designs are timeless."

Townsend reaffirmed thetimeless room with black-andwhite family pictures framed as wall art.

Addison and friends read and play on poufs and tuffets on the floor with the largest dog you've ever seen, Rocket.

"My husband brought him home as a puppy and wouldn't tell me what kind of dog he was," Townsend said. "I didn't find out he was Great Dane until he started getting big."

Townsend uses Addison's old changing table in the closet to store shoes, books and toys.

The lamp on the bedside table belonged to Townsend's sister.

The twin headboards wereinspired by a Restoration Hardware page. They actually hang on the wall since the trundles are moved out now and then.

The Townsends don't know it yet, but children grow up fast. These precious moments with toddler Addison will go by fast as she grows up with her adaptable room decor.
