Batesville community college awards several scholarships to area students

— Seven students have been awarded the Academic Distinction Scholarship to the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville.

Nicholas Brown graduated from Searcy High School. He plans to seek a degree in business management. He is the son of Robert and Margie Brown.

Ashley Brumley graduated from Midland High School. She plans to seek a degree in literature. She is the daughter of Harold and Regina Brumley.

Ginny Long graduated from Highland High School. She plans to seek a degree in health science. She is the daughter of Kathy Long.

Heather Norman graduated from Batesville High School. She is the daughter of Becky Utz and Bobby Utz. She plans to seek a degree in secondaryeducation.

Elizabeth R. Reed graduated from Concord High School. She plans to seek a degree in liberal arts. She is the daughter of Mitchell and Yolonda Reed.

Jeffrey Tate graduated from Highland High School. He plans to seek an associate's degree. He is the son of John and Barbara Tate.

Emily Tipton graduated from Hillcrest High School. She plans to seek a degree in nursing. She is the daughter of Brent and Maleta Tipton.

The Academic Distinction Scholarship is awarded to students with a composite ACT score of 19 or higher. It provides in-state tuition (up to 15 hours) each semester.

Also, Seva De Danielle Riley was awarded an Academic Excellence Scholarship at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville.Riley graduated from Southside High School. She plans to seek a degree in early childhood education. She is the daughter of Ricky and Brenda Riley.

The Academic Excellence Scholarship is awarded to students with a composite ACT score of 25 or higher. It provides in-state tuition (up to 15 credit hours) and a $250 stipend each semester.

Jessica G. Perez was awarded a Chancellor's Scholarship.

Perez graduated from Highland High School and plans to seek a degree in secondary education. She is the daughter of Adam and Rebekah Perez.

The Chancellor's Scholarship is awarded to students with a composite ACT score of 27 or higher.

It provides in-state tuition (up to 15 hours), a $250 stipend and free use of text books each semester.
