MAUMELLE Church offering child care for free to holiday shoppers

— First Baptist Church of Maumelle will offer free child care for children ages 1-10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the church’s activities building.

Administrative assistant Jeannie Adams said Parents’ Day Out is all about outreach and providing time for couples to spend together before the hustle and bustle of the holidays.

“It’s a tough time for people right now to hire a babysitter or take your kids somewhere,” Adams said. “We felt we could provide that service where the parents would be comfortable in knowing their kids were taken care of.”

Children will be cared for by qualified church volunteers.

Adams said many church members are excited to help out, and they hope to have 50 to 75 children attend.

“The more the merrier,” Adams said. “We’ve got plenty of staff that is ready and willing. People just need to get their names signed up so we can make sure we can accommodate them.”

While Mom and Dad are out shopping, kids will be treated to snacks, games, movies, music, stories, naps if needed and a pizza lunch at noon.

“We will have Bible stories,” Adams said. “We will be talking about the birth of Jesus. We will kind of intertwine some of those truths with the kids while they are here.”

While kids are having fun at the church, parents have the option of finishing their Christmas shopping or enjoying time together in the midst of the busy holiday season.

“It is a time for parents. Maybe those couple of hours is just what a couple needs,” she said.

Parents may call Adams at (501) 851-3547 to preregister their children.
