DNA testing has confirmed that the identities of two bodies found in a burning pickup were a father and his daughter, authorities said Thursday.

The Pulaski County sheriff's office received word late this morning from the state Crime Laboratory that the victims were 28-year-old Michael Palmer and his nearly 2-year-old daughter, Hannah Dowdie. The tests confirmed the earlier report by the sheriff's office that tentatively identified the father and daughter.

The bodies were found Saturday burned beyond recognition on dead-end Wilbern Road near Granite Mountain Quarries.

Palmer’s body was in the bed of a small GMC truck registered in his name. Hannah’s was in the cab.

Authorities tentatively identified Palmer and Dowdie based on information gleaned from autopsies conducted Monday.

The case remains under investigation. Sheriff’s office spokesman John Rehrauer said he did not anticipate an imminent arrest.
