This article was published December 17, 2009 at 4:18 p.m.
For the first time in 23 years, the University of Arkansas baseball team will travel to central Arkansas to play.
The Razorbacks will take on Louisiana Tech at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock on May 11 with first pitch set for 7 p.m. Tickets will go on sale Friday, Dec. 18 at 8 a.m. through the Arkansas Travelers’ ticket site and the Dickey-Stephens box office.
“We’re definitely excited that this opportunity to play in central Arkansas worked out for us,” head coach Dave Van Horn said. “We will be coming off a conference series at Ole Miss so the chance to stop and play in North Little Rock is a great opportunity. This will be a great experience for our student-athletes to play in front of fans from all over the state that may not get to come up to Baum Stadium to see us play. Dickey-Stephens Park is a great facility and there will be a great atmosphere, too.”
Ticket prices for the Arkansas-Louisiana Tech game range from $10 for general admission, $12 for reserved seats and $15 for box seats. The Travelers’ ticket site can be accessed through TicketReturn.com, while a link to the site will also be available at ArkansasRazorbacks.com. The link will be activated at 8 a.m. on Dec. 18. For ticket purchase through the Dickey-Stephens box office, call 501-664-1555.
The Razorbacks’ game against Louisiana Tech will mark the team’s first contest in Central Arkansas since playing Texas in 1983, Mississippi State during the 1984 and 1985 seasons and Memphis in 1986. Arkansas first played in Little Rock during the 1964 season, a two-game set also against Memphis.
The 2010 Razorback baseball season opens Feb. 19-21 with a three-game series against Ball State. For season ticket information, call the Razorback Ticket Office at 479-575-5151 or toll free at 1-800-982-HOGS.
