Two killed in mobile home fire

BENTON — A woman and her adult son were killed in a fire at their mobile home in Benton this morning.
Crews were called to 21103 Interstate 30 just before 6 a.m. and found the structure fully engulfed, said Benton Police Department Det. Jennifer Tarvin.
As firefighters were extinguishing the blaze, they noticed the bodies of two people in the kitchen, Tarvin said. She described the victims as an 89-year-old woman and her 57-year-old son. Their identities are not being released pending notification of family members, Tarvin said.
Autopsies were ongoing this afternoon.
The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.
It was reported by a man who was leaving a nearby neighborhood and noticed the smoke. The home was destroyed.
