100 YEARS AGO Feb. 26, 1909 Senator Clarke has succeeded in procuring an amendment attached to the river and harbor bill by the Senate Committee on Commerce, providing for surveys of the Arkansas and Ouachita rivers, as follows: The examination shall be made as to the feasibility as an aid to navigation of the Ouachita River of the construction of a canal from Orand Mary Lake to Felsenthal, Ark. and an estimate submitted as to the cost thereof.
