Ark. man beaten to death; police arrest 2

FAYETTEVILLE — Two men were arrested Monday after a third was beaten to death.

Police said Kent Thomas Crigler, 49, of Fayetteville died at Washington Regional Medical Center after he was brought to the hospital by an unidentified woman about 2:30 p.m.

Terry Don Lankford, 36, and Cheyenne Cody Shinault, 29, both of Fayetteville, were arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder in Crigler's death.

Police said the three men apparently were in a fight outside an apartment building. Police did not provide details on a motive.

Police Sgt. Bill Phelan said that acting on witness statements, police found Lankford and Shinault in a truck. Lankford tried to run after police stopped the truck, but he was caught after a foot chase, Phelan said.
