MUSIC SCENE: Folk rockers to play Studio Joe

— Folk rock trio Happenstance will play its first show of the year at 7:30 p.m. today at Studio Joe, 600 Autumn Road, Little Rock.

Happenstance consists of acoustic singer-songwriters Doug Coppock, Brooks Walthall and Dan Clanton. The Conway-based threesome opened for the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra at the Pops on the River event July 4, and in recent years has been chosen to perform for the annual Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okemah, Okla.

The members describe their sound as "electrifying acousticana." Divas of the Rock returns for a performance that will feature Liv Warfield at 9 p.m. today at the Revolution Room, 300 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock.

Tawanna Campbell and Delya Chandler will open the show, accompanied by Rodney Block.

Charles Wood and Southern Soul, featuring Jess Hoggard, will perform at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Juanita's, 13th and Main streets, Little Rock. Admission is $6.

Wood, 62, was born in Little Rock and has performed with The Staple Singers, Rufus Thomas, Little Johnny Taylor, Fenton Robinson, Larry "Totsy" Davis and Freddie King.

At 5 p.m. Sunday, Juanita's will present the next Big Time Entertainment show, featuring Maywood Park, Rivalry for Ruin, Danny Vasquez, Don't Touch, Afternoon Delight, Nightly Massacre, Adonis and Soundwaves to Somewhere.

Tickets to the all-ages show are $8 in advance, $10 the day of the show.

Central Arkansas dancefloor favorites Tragikly White will perform at 10 p.m. today at Sticky Fingerz Chicken Shack, 107 Commerce St., Little Rock.
