LITTLE ROCK Arkansas' lottery commission is voting on whether the state should join the multistate Powerball games.
The nine-member commission is scheduled to meet Wednesday and vote on whether to accept an invitation from the Powerball group and the Multi-State Lottery Association, Powerball's umbrella organization.
Voters approved Arkansas' lottery in November and the commission says it hopes to sell its first tickets by Oct. 29. Arkansas Lottery Executive Director Ernie Passailaigue says the state could begin selling Powerball tickets sometime next year, if approved by the commission.
Powerball is played in 30 states, the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands, according to the association's Web site.
