— Northwest Medical System is announcing plans for a Heart Hospital Network to provide cardiovascular care in northwest Arkansas.

Chief Operating Officer Doug Arnold says the system will spend $20 million to renovate and buy equipment and software for the network. The system will include hospitals in Springdale, Bentonville and Siloam Springs.

Arnold says the system will provide cardiovascular care for patients in the Arkansas-Oklahoma-Missouri area. The main facility will be in the north tower of the Springdale hospital.

He says the renovation will take nine to 12 months to complete and he says up to 100 new jobs could be added during the next two years - many of those being nursing positions.
