Man atop car dies in crash, deputy says

— Crawford County authorities say a man was killed when he jumped atop a car that then crashed into a utility pole as the driver tried to get his unwanted passenger off the car's roof.

Dennis Knight, 30, died in the pre-dawn hours Sunday, according to Chief Deputy Ron Brown of the Crawford County sheriff's office.

Brown said Knight's girlfriend told deputies that Knight and the car's driver had been arguing, and the other man was driving away when Knight jumped on top of the vehicle's hood, then crawled onto the roof as the car was moving.

The driver swerved his car to get Knight off the top, but lost control and struck the utility pole, Brown said the girlfriend reported.

The driver, apparently not under the influence of alcohol, has not been arrested, Brown said. He said investigators are still working to determine who was at fault in Knight's death.

"Who was at fault in Knight's death"? I would say that climbing on top of a moving vehicle is probably makes one a candidate for the old "Darwin Awards".
