8 dogs found in animal-cruelty convict's house

— The Saline County prosecutor's office filed a motion to revoke bond Thursday against Alisha King of Benton, who was convicted on animal-cruelty charges in February.

King, 28, was sentenced to one year in jail and ordered to pay $1,110 in fines after being found guilty of 46 counts of cruelty to animals.

After King was released on an appeal bond of $10,000, evidence was found that she again "has committed the offense of Cruelty to Animals and is currently running a puppy mill," according to the petition to revoke her bond filed by Mike Sappington, Saline County deputy prosecuting attorney.

No one answered the phone late Friday at the office of King's attorney, Parker Jones. A phone number listed for King on a police report had been disconnected.

Benton police responded to a disturbance Wednesday at the home of King and her husband, Timothy King, 31. The police report on the disturbance said one of the officers could hear "several dogs bark or cry inside the residence."

Eight dogs were found in total, the report said. Two Chihuahuas were found in a medium-sized crate designed for one dog in a closet-type room. The crate was lined with newspaper saturated with urine. Others were found in the bathtub and in the kitchen, the report said.

According to the report, Timothy King said all the dogs were Alisha King's.

Authorities said they had found cages full of malnourished and neglected dogs in September and October, which led to Alisha King's original charges.

Timothy King was sentenced to 30 days in jail and ordered to pay $1,100 for his role in the previous animal-cruelty charges.

Saline County Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Rebecca Bush said Alisha King's new hearing date has not yet been set.
