Can a bathroom be remodeled in just one day?

Perhaps you've noticed television commercials featuring companies that claim to be able not only to remodel your bath, but do so in one day, and at a lower cost than conventional home remodelers, writes Helaine R. Williams in Saturday's HomeStyle section. You're skeptical. After all, you've long heard that the bathroom and the kitchen were the two most expensive and difficult rooms to remodel.

How can they do it? They are using bath-remodeling systems that began in the 1970s in the hotel/motel industry and, in recent years, are being used in private homes.

The companies specialize in quick installations of nonporous acrylic bathtub liners, wall covers, shower systems and other products guaranteed not to fade, peel, crack, scratch or fall prey to the cleanliness problems that plague traditional baths.
