LITTLE ROCK WHEELIN', DEALIN' It's a car enthusiasts' extravaganza at the Petit Jean Antique Auto Show & Swap Meet, continuing 8 a.m.-7 p.m. through Saturday at the Museum of Automobiles on Petit Jean Mountain. Cars, restoration supplies, parts and memorabilia will be for sale for collectors, or you can just wander through and admire all the classic cars. Admission to the festival, presented by the Mid-America Old-Time Auto Association, is free. The museum, with its collection of automobiles, is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. ROCKIN', ROLLIN' Rock legend Levon Helm, a native of
Marvell, will perform Saturday in the Lucy Lockett Cabe Festival Theatre at Wildwood Park for the Arts, 20919 Denny Road, as part of Wildwood's second annual "Native Sons & Daughters Tribute." A pre-show reception with hors d'oeuvres ("including some of Levon's favorite foods"), complimentary wine and beer kicks things off at 6:30 p.m., followed by the honors ceremony at 7:30. Helm and the 12-piece Levon Helm Band will take the stage at 8. Helm, who drummed for Conway Twitty and later The Band, also appeared as an actor in the films Coal Miner's Daughter, End of the Line and The Right Stuff. DANCIN', DRUMMIN' Crafts, dancing, color guard, drumming, art, exhibits and more are on the agenda for the annual Native American Pow Wow, 3 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. Saturday-Sunday at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. Admission is $5 per day or $10 for the weekend, free for children 3 and under. Proceeds benefit the refuge. Admission to the refuge to visit the big cats and other animals is $15, $10 for ages 3-12 and ages 65 and older. The refuge is off Arkansas 23 south of Eureka Springs. LAUNCHIN', LEARNIN' Blast off at the Clinton Presidential Center's Super Summer Saturdays in Space program, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Aspiring astronauts can explore the new "Space: From the Moon to Mars" exhibit and take a "ride" in the Space Station MIR and Space Camp simulators. Special space snacks will also be available. This week's theme is Living and Working in Space and demonstrations will occur on the hour. Center admission is $7; $5 for retired military, college students and ages 62 and older; $3 for children ages 6-17; free for active military and children under 6. Simulator rides are $1 each. CELEBRATIN', EDUCATIN' The Little Rock National Association for the Advancement of Colored People presents a day of music, dancing, speakers, vendors, children's activities and more with Juneteenth: A Celebration of Freedom. The street festival, commemorating events such as the civil-rights movement and the end of slavery, starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 8 p.m. Saturday on Ninth Street in downtown Little Rock. COOKIN', CONSUMIN' Johnson County celebrates its favorite fruit with the annual Peach Festival, through Sunday. Craft and concession booths open starting today and there will be a street dance today, 9 p.m. Games and children's activities as well as peach-eating and cooking contests begin Friday. The bulk of the activities, including the four-mile run, the parade, contests, obstacle courses, games and pageant finals will be Saturday. A bass tournament and horseshoe pitching wrap things up on Sunday. Most events will center on Clarksville's courthouse square. General admission is free. TOYIN', TOURIN' Gather the kin for old-fashioned diversions at Historic Washington State Park's Family Fun Day, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. With "Games of Yesteryear," tomahawk throwing, interactive demonstrations, "Town Ball," surrey rides and historic building tours, there will be plenty to keep everyone occupied. FLYIN', FLEXIN' Learn about real-life superheroes and what they can do at The Science of Superheroes, a special event at the Museum of Discovery, today-Saturday. Visitors are encouraged to come in costume and test their strength, learn about gravity, aerodynamics, radiation and the special talents of the museum's spiders. Comic book artist and comedian Mike Brown will give a presentation as well. Saturday also marks the opening of Backyard Science, a new exhibit on everything from bugs to rainbows, that will continue through Jan. 9. GROWIN', EXPLORIN' Children will have a new place of their own as Garvan Woodland Gardens dedicates the new Evans Children's Adventure Garden, 11 a.m. today. The 1 1 /2 acres have been developed and designed for children ages 4-12 with boulders, passageways, water features and a series of stone ledges. The garden will open to the public at 1 p.m. The gardens are open 9 a.m.-8 p.m. daily. Admission is $8.75, $7.75 for ages 55 and older, $4.50 for ages 6-12. Children will be admitted free today. STRIDIN', ADMIRIN' Lighted white tents will join the usual indoor art venues as part of the Argenta 3rd Friday Night Artwalk, 5-8 p.m. Friday along Main Street sidewalks between Broadway and Seventh Street in downtown North Little Rock. Timed to take advantage of the event will be the public opening of Greg Thompson Fine Art, on the second floor of the Faucett building, 429 Main St. Thompson calls it "a New Yorkstyle gallery in the heart of historic Argenta featuring works by important Arkansas artists, Southern Regionalists and Modern artists of the 20th century."
