SYMPHONY GUILD Luncheon, $70,000 check greet symphony's director

— President Susan Marsh hosted a potluck salad luncheon for Arkansas Symphony Guild members June 8 in her Hickory Creek home. The committee chairmen presented a $70,000 check to the new executive director, Christina Littlejohn, on her first day at work. The check represented the money the guild had raised during theyear, including the proceeds from Designer House.

As the interim director, Jack Myers kept the music going after the sudden death of the previous director, Bill Vickery.

The group was alsoespecially happy to learn that the guild had received the Governor's Award from the Arkansas Arts Council.

Receiving special recognition was the guild's Arts in Education program, which included the children's concert and Orchestra and You.
