LITTLE ROCK Arkansas grocers say they and their customers are looking forward to paying less sales tax on groceries, but they're not expecting to see a boost in business from the cut.
Arkansas' grocery tax goes down from 3 cents to 2 cents starting Wednesday, the result of legislation approved by lawmakers earlier this year. Gov. Mike Beebe, who has said he wants to eliminate the sales tax entirely, pushed for the $40 million reduction during the session.
The grocery tax cut is one of two decreases that take effect with the new fiscal year starting Wednesday. A $10 million cut in the tax manufacturers pay for utilities also takes effect this week.

I agree with Gov Beebe. Eliminate the tax on food.
