Dr. Randeep Mann will remain in custody until his trial on charges of possessing illegal weapons, including grenades and machine guns, a judge ruled Tuesday.

U.S. Magistrate Judge H. David Young told Mann, 50, that although some testimony Monday from a federal firearms agent was "fairly grand" and not entirely substantiated, several legitimate concerns existed.

Mann was arrested on the federal charges after workers for the city of London stumbled upon a partially buried canister that contained 98 live grenades in a wooded area about 300 yards from Mann's home. The grenades can only legally be possessed by the military.

Inside Mann's home, officers armed with a search warrant found a similar canister, 45 prac- tice grenades, grenade launchers and numerous firearms, including 110 fully automatic machine guns.

Although Mann is licensed to sell such firearms, at least four of them weren't registered to him as required under the National Firearms Act, according to Special Agent David Oliver of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
