— Los Angeles police say they have arrested a woman who officers saw try to attack Simon Cowell's ex-girlfriend outside the venue where "American Idol" is taped.

Officer Norma Eisenman says officers arrested Janice Thibodeaux (Ti-bo-DOH') after they saw her try to choke "Extra" correspondent Terri Seymour. She is being held on nearly $54,000 bail for suspicion of felony battery.

Police did not identify Seymour, but a story posted on the "Extra" Web site confirmed the encounter. Seymour refused medical treatment after the incident.

Eisenman says Thibodeaux asked Seymour if she was Cowell's ex-girlfriend before trying to choke her. The 33-year-old ran from officers for a short distance before being arrested.
