Let’s think this through

Are we sure about the public option thing?

AS THE debate continues about whether to give government a shot at selling health insurance on the cheap, or maybe at a premium before all this is through, how about we review a few headlines from the last few days?

First you say any government health plan is going to suck, and then you say it's going to attract business away from existing private insurance concerns.
If it's going to be that bad, how is it going to threaten the status quo?
You can't have it both ways...but don't tell that to the ditto-heads.

Marvin, perhaps you didn't read carefully enough. The public plan won't ATTRACT business from private concerns. It will get that business by default because companies will drop their existing expensive plans for employees in order to save money.

The employees will then be FORCED to use the government plan. Once the government plan is the only game in town (due to all the private insurance being "fired" by money-saving companies), then guess what happens? (Hint: What ALWAYS happens when there is no competition? Does the Dept of motor vehicles come to mind?)
