State police say a Blytheville woman is dead after the collision of her vehicle and a state trooper’s patrol car.
A news release said the accident Tuesday morning killed Vickie Lynn Freemyer, 52, and injured Trooper Andrew Rhew, 30, of Manila.
State police said witness statements indicate Freemyer was westbound on a street intersecting with Arkansas 77 when she drove into the path of Rhew’s patrol car on the state highway. Freemyer was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.
The release said Rhew, who was on-duty at the time of the accident, was taken to a Jonesboro hospital, where he was treated and released. Rhew is a five-year veteran of the department, the agency said.
