Berkshire Cleared to Purchase Capmark by Antitrust Enforcers

— Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc. was cleared by U.S. antitrust enforcers to purchase Capmark Financial Group Inc.’s loan-servicing and mortgage business.

Capmark announced in September that an agreement to sell the business to a partnership that includes Berkshire and Leucadia National Corp. for as much as $490 million.

The antitrust approval was disclosed today by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, which released a list of proposed combinations that have been cleared.
