State revenue falls in October

Decline is 7.4% from year ago

State general revenue fell $31.6 million in October compared with October 2008, the 10th month in the past 11 in which tax collections dropped in comparison with a year earlier, according to data released Tuesday by the state.

The state Department of Finance and Administration also released more details on program cuts agencies are taking to meet the $100 million budget cut that was announced Oct. 20 for this fiscal year.

Cuts include the state’s Youth Services Division not fully implementing pilot programs to help prevent youth crime, and the Health Department reducing funding for programs to fight cancer and strokes and evaluate infant mortality.
