College Bound kickoff event set for Friday

— The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville and the Southside School District entered into a pilot project in November 2006 that required graduating seniors to complete the application process for admittance to the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville. As part of this process, students were required to submit the following four items: an official application, immunization records, placement scores and high school transcripts.

Since that time, five additional area schools have signed on to participate in PROJECT: College Bound. Seniors from six area high schools (Cave City, Southside, Midland, Concord, Hillcrest and Cedar Ridge) will be on campus for PROJECT: College Bound Kickoff Day on Friday.

Students will be exposed to the campus, receive information on what the college has to offer and complete the application.

The agenda for the day is as follows: 8:45 a.m. - Buses arrive, students seated 9 a.m - Welcome and overview of agenda 9:15 a.m. - “Why Go To College?” 9:30 a.m. - Degrees at UACCB 10:15 a.m. - Student Life 10:20 a.m. - Break 10:25 a.m. - Applications 10:50 a.m. - Divide Into Two Groups: Group 1 - Campus Tour; Group 2 - Financial Aid/Testing 11:10 a.m. - Rotate Groups 11:30 a.m. - Lunch Activities will take place in Independence Hall in the auditorium and in the banquet halls.
