KidStage productions feature area youth

SEARCY Land O’Frost KidStage will present productions showcasing the area’s youngsters during the month of November at Center on the Square.
Murder on the Prune Juice Aisle will play today and Saturday while Just in the Nick of Time: A Detective Red Mistletoe Mystery will play Thursday, Nov. 12, and Saturday, Nov.
14. These productions are the culmination of Center on the Square’s afterschool children’s workshop, KidStage, which has been funded by Land O’Frost since 2004. This year’s workshop activities are also supported by associate sponsors Beth Patterson Pediatric Dentistry, Searcy Children’s Clinic and Families Inc. Now in its 11th year, Land O’Frost Kidstage features training in performing arts and stage techniques and has nearly 60 students from second to 12th grades enrolled.
The sixth- through 12thgrade class (also known as Big Stage) will present their show Murder in the Prune Juice Aisle.
The script was written by the class during a scriptwriting and improvisation workshop led by Center Executive Director Lana Hallmark. Big-Stage will present it’s show at 7 p.m. today and Saturday.
The following weekend students in grades two through six will present their holiday play titled Just in the Nick of Time, A Detective Red Mistletoe Mystery. They will present their show at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. each night on Thursday, Nov. 12, and Saturday Nov. 14.
Tickets are $6 in advance or $8 at the door and are available at Quattlebaum Music, the Tangerine Turtle or by calling 501-368-0111.
The Performing Arts Center on the Square is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to the expansion and appreciation of the performing arts in the Central Arkansas region. Contributions are tax deductible.
Center on the Square is a handicap accessible facility and interpretation for the deaf is available at Thursday performances by request. For more information, call (501) 368-0111.
