The public approval rating for U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., fell by double digits this year, according to a poll released Thursday by the University of Arkansas.

Forty-three percent of respondents in the poll say they favor the job she’s doing, down from 54 percent in 2008.

Meanwhile, her disapproval rating jumped to 34 percent from 20 percent.

“I’m getting hit from all sides,” Lincoln said Thursday on her weekly telephone conference with Arkansas reporters.

“People don’t know what to believe. I hope they will continue to know that I’ll fight hard for Arkansas and what’s meaningful for Arkansas. A lot of people from groups outside our state are hitting me from both sides.”
