To mark the soldier shootings at Fort Hood in Texas, Gov. Mike Beebe has ordered U.S. and Arkansas flags be flown at half-staff until Veterans Day.

The Arkansas National Guard, which also lowered its flags, held a moment of silence at 1:34 p.m. Friday.

Beebe said that Arkansas soldiers have a long history with Fort Hood “and feel an especially deep loss.”
