Truly a sad situation for Conway. For as long as I can remember, "the bus factory" has been a landmark and a cornerstone of Conway's industry.
Sounds as if IC Corp. made a not-so great decision to build a plant nearly a decade ago with an eye towards eventually closing things down in Conway. From the opening of that Tulsa plant, things began to decline at the Conway facility.

This will definitely kick a hole in the local economy. With new restaurants and all those "private clubs" at least the folks will have places to go and drink beer and commiserate with each other.

Conway plant hasn't been the same since Jerry Williams retired. Navistar has no respect for their employees except how much work they can get you to do with the least amount of people. Our Christmas bonus' went from $100 to a $25 dollar Wal-Mart gift card. Jerry used to go all over the plant handing out $100 bill's personally. He loved doing that. Times also changed for the worse when they fired Ceo Bob Whitehouse .At least he wanted to keep half the business in Conway. He always told us they did'nt want all their eggs in one basket. Well they will be now,.
