Ex-police chief’s convictions tossed

A former Lonoke police chief convicted of running a criminal gang that dealt drugs, ransacked private homes in search of prescription medication, ripped off drug dealers and engaged in sex with prison inmates had his convictions overturned Thursday by the Arkansas Supreme Court, which ordered a new trial.

Does this mean that Campbell is now out of jail since this charge was overturned or will he still be serving time for other charges?

The entire conviction is reversed for prejudice caused by the CCE count and the wife's sex evidence and the illegal search of the house. He could still be retried on some counts. He'll remain in jail until the S.Ct. mandate issues on November 23.

The Fourth Amendment still lives in Arkansas
