— A 19-year-old Texarkana man has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in Miller County.

Jeffrey Walraven is charged in the shooting death of Gregg Walker.

Walraven’s attorney — Shannon Tuckett — says Walraven shot Tucker when he saw Tucker with a gun. Tuckett says Walraven believed his mother’s life was in danger when he fired.

Investigators have said Walraven and his mother had gone to Walker’s home to pick up some clothes. Walraven told authorities he felt threatened when he saw Walker with a weapon and shot him once in the chest with a sawed-off shotgun.
