Mike Nash has spent the past week watching the water rise.

Day by day, inch by inch, murky brown water from the flooding Ouachita River has crept up his street and into his yard.

On Friday, water reached the top of the four-foot, concrete foundation, only six inches from Nash’s front door and the living room behind it.

“We ain’t lost it yet. There’s still hope,” said Nash, who boated down Felsenthal’s main street to his home. “But I’m sweating it.”

More than half of this rural town of 150 people is underwater.
