Fundraisers bring in $68,000 for school

— The 64th annual Greenbrier Fall Festival was held on Oct. 24 in support of the Greenbrier School District.

Students and parents sold Savers Cards and sponsored a drawing for the grand prize of a Honda four-wheeler with a trailer. Students were also elected to represent their class or grade as this year’s Fall Festival Kings and Queens. These students and their families worked throughout the month of October hosting other fundraisers to help raise a total of $68,000 this year.

As part of the festivities, a silent auction was held and carnival games including an old fashioned cakewalk were enjoyed at the high school. That night,the Coronation Ceremony to present and crown this year’s Fall Festival Royalty was held at Panther Pavilion.

From the 53 king/queen class representatives, nine overall king/queen winners were announced at the Coronation Ceremony. Those winners were:

◊High School Winners: Queen Jackie Wray and King Justin Head - 12th grade.

◊Junior High Winners: Queen Sydney Everett and King Hunter Havens - eighth grade.

◊Middle School Winners: Queen Rachel Everett and King Marc Corker - sixth grade.

◊Fifth-grade Winners: Queen Madison Cardin and King Dalton Clements fromEastside.

◊Fourth-grade Winners: Queen Katelyn Couch and King Julian Cheatham from Westside.

◊Third-grade Winners: Queen Lauren Dillon and King Cody Walker from Westside.

◊Second-grade Winners: Queen Addison Duncan and King Brody Johnson from Westside.

◊First-grade Winners: Queen Kylie Griffin and King Peyton Turner from Eastside.

◊Kindergarten Winners: Queen Madilyn Johnson and King Bryant Johnson from Westside.
