— Lake Dardanelle State Park at Russellville won the 2008-2009 Outstanding Interpretive Program Award by Arkansas State Parks, State Parks Director Greg Butts said.

The State Parks Division presents awards annually for park excellence within Arkansas’ state parks system. The 2008-2009 awards honor the Park of the Year, Region I-IV winners and awards for outstanding park maintenance, hospitality, volunteer program, resource management, interpretive program and special event.

Park staff provided 1,078 interpretive programs in 2009. At least one new program a month is added to the park program book.

A few of the programs offered at Lake Dardanelle State Park included four-day camps, a free concert, 10 Girl Scout workshops, a teacher workshop, a fly-fishing workshop and two fish-feeding programs.

For more information, contact Butts at (501) 682-7743 or email greg.butts@arkansas.gov.
